Our Story

Built out of a question every caregiver eventually asks.

Living Unified began with families who love someone with special needs — and who couldn't find a place for that person to live a full life once they could no longer provide care themselves.

Why We Exist

Housing wasn't built for lifelong dignity.

Most housing options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are designed around a single service — a group home, a day program, a waitlist for a waitlist. Families are left stitching together care across a dozen providers, with no guarantee that any of it will still be there in ten or twenty years.

Living Unified takes a different approach. Instead of one service, we're building one integrated community — housing, healthcare, employment, recreation, and faith, all under a shared commitment to every resident for life.

Our Approach

A full community, not a facility.

At LIVING UNIFIED, every resident is encouraged to live with dignity, independence, safety, and purpose — while receiving the level of support they need to thrive physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and vocationally.

That means private bedrooms instead of institutional wards. Real jobs instead of idle time. A chapel instead of a checkbox for "spiritual services." A community built around the whole person, not just their diagnosis.

"We're not building housing. We're building a place where our residents can live, work, worship, and belong — for as long as they live."

What We Believe

The values behind every decision

Lifelong Support

Never aging out

Unlike many programs that end at a certain age, Living Unified is designed to be home for life.

Dignity & Respect

Every resident, fully seen

Care that treats independence and choice as the goal, not a risk to be managed.

Growth & Opportunity

Real work, real purpose

Vocational training and employment built into daily life, not offered as an afterthought.

Community & Belonging

Faith-filled, never isolating

A community grounded in faith and open to all, where friendship and belonging are part of the design.

Who We're Building For

Families across Louisiana, planning ahead.

Living Unified is being built for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — and for the parents, siblings, and caregivers who need to know there's a good answer to "what happens next."

We're currently in our founding phase: finalizing plans, securing land, and building the partnerships and funding that will let us break ground.
